About My Pottery

Me

My love of pottery

I inherited my love of pottery from my mother and my sister. They were both great admirers and collectors of pottery but never made any. Whenever I go to a pottery show or sale and see something I like, my first response is "I want to make that" rather than wanting to purchase it.

Finally, in my retirement years, I found the time to take some classes and workshops. I tried the wheel but found that handbuilding was really what made it possible for me to bring out my creativity.

I love to create pottery with clean lines and simple shapes. I strive to bring out the beauty of the clay body itself and so I often use the colour of the clay as the main colour.

Making pottery can be exciting, relaxing, fun and sometimes stressful. The results can be a surprise or exactly what I had in mind.

I am always experimenting with different shapes and clays and so my work will no doubt evolve into something that gives me great satisfaction.
